15th Anniversary Azerbaijan International Construction Exhibition
7th Caspian International Furniture, Interiors and Design Exhibition
Anniversary Construction Triumph
21-24 October 2009, Heydar Aliyev Sport and Concert Complex, Baku, Azerbaijan
Today, on 21 October the annual BakuBuild exhibition was officially opened, and is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year. Together with BakuBuild, the Heydar Aliyev Sport and Concert Complex is hosting the 7th Caspian International Furniture, Interiors and Design Exhibition. These events are held with the assistance of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Azerbaijan Republic, Azerbaijan State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers'), Azerbaijani organisations, and Union of Architects of the Azerbaijan Republic.
The exhibition's sponsors are ITE Group Plc (UK) and its Caucasian partner Iteca Caspian, as well as a network of ITE Group Plc partners that actively attracts international companies to participate in the exhibition hosted by Azerbaijan, such as EUF (Turkey), GIMA (Germany), International Show srl. (Italy), ITE Gulf (Dubai) and ITE China (China).
The official opening ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff of the State Committee of Urban Development and Architecture Mr Elmar Huseynzade, Deputy Chief of State Agency for Construction Safety Control at the Ministry of Emergency Situations Mr Elhan Asadov, Vice President of Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr Mehman Ahmedov, UK Ambassador to the Azerbaijan Republic Dr. Caroline Brown, Turkish Ambassador to the Azerbaijan Republic Mr Hulusi Kilic, Iranian Ambassador to the Azerbaijan Republic Mammedbaghir Bahrami, Greek Ambassador to the Azerbaijan Republic Mr Ioannis Metaxas and ITE Group Plc Regional Director Mr Edward Stroon.
Mr Asadov opened the event by welcoming the exhibition's foreign and local participants.
“I am very glad to take part in this anniversary construction exhibition together with you”, he said. “This is the largest exhibition in the region and reflects Azerbaijan's economic achievements in this sector. During the exhibition's preparatory activities, I met with local companies and noticed a very remarkable fact – the companies that visited the exhibition five or seven years ago as guests are today participating with their own stands”.
At the end of his speech, Mr Asadov congratulated participants and organisers on the opening of the exhibition and wished them success in finding new partners and profitable contracts.
Meanwhile, the Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Mr Ahmedov said that amid the global financial crisis, the success of this year's exhibition will serve as an excellent display of Azerbaijan's recent economic achievements. He added that the country's market is opening new business segments for cooperation with foreign companies.
Ahmedov believes that the exhibition is a tremendous opportunity to meet with future foreign partners, and wished all the participants promising meetings and success.
Later, the Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Mr. Kilic also welcomed the exhibition participants and congratulated them on the event's fifteenth anniversary.
“We are all witnesses to Azerbaijan's economic growth and today’s exhibition proves this once more”, he said. “Turkey has always maintained close relations with Azerbaijan and interest in this country never fades. For example, this year a record-breaking number of Turkish companies are participating in the exhibition”.
The floor was then given to the UK ambassador to Azerbaijan Dr. Caroline Brown.
“I join the previous speakers in wishing all the exhibition participants success and fruitful work,” she said. “I would like to thank the organisers for such a large-scale event and congratulate the participants on the fifteenth anniversary”.
On behalf of the organisers, the ITE Group Plc Regional Director Mr Edward Stroon congratulated the participants and guests on the official opening of the event.
“I note with great pleasure that 270 companies from 27 countries are participating in the exhibition”, he said. “This is remarkable, as I remember our first exhibition in 1995 that was held together with three other exhibitions and where only 25 companies participated. I want to thank everyone who contributed to accomplishing such formidable results over all these years.”
Mr Edward Stroon then gave a big welcome to the companies participating in the exhibition for the first time.
“They constitute 30 percent of all our participants”, he said.
He also thanked all the relevant ministries of foreign countries directly participating in the organisation of national stands at the exhibition.
“I welcome the national stands of Iran and Lithuania, debutants at the exhibition, as well as the combined stands of Germany, Belarus and Turkey,” he said. “I would also like to underscore the invaluable support of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Azerbaijan State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Union of Architects of the Azerbaijan Republic, National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers'), Azerbaijani organisations, and, of course, the management of the Heydar Aliyev Sport and Exhibition Complex”.
At the end of his speech, Mr Edward Stroon invited everyone to take part in a round-table conference on 23 October as part of the exhibition.
After the ceremony, representatives of governmental authorities, embassies, major companies and media took a VIP tour of the complex.
This year, BakuBuild marvelled guests with its scale. The exhibition occupies all three pavilions of the Heydar Aliyev Sport and Concert Complex and presents myriad expositions of construction materials, bathroom fixtures, decorative materials and other items. External pavilions include giant construction equipment from leading international manufacturers. Company stands actively work with visitors, and demonstrate the advantages of various stone and glass processing technologies, and extensively explain the innovations of the offered materials and plants. The German national stand demonstrates ornamental blacksmithing. The distinguishing feature of the exhibition is the abundance of unique and colourful stands. Visitors can see, touch and even check the quality of the presented products.
BakuBuild has also not forgotten the professional audience. The exhibition has arranged the Repair School project for beginner craftsmen. Here, every visitor who has questions about office or home repair and design can receive practical advice from construction specialists and personally participate in interior decoration, electrical installation and designing activities.
The Caspian MebelExpo exhibits interior decoration and design, a broad choice of stylish wallpaper made from various production methods, carpets, home fabrics, lighting fixtures, mirrors, and cut-glass. In addition to factory production, manufacturers also offer the opportunity to order custom-made interior items. The exhibition has also organised workshops on interior decorations. Experienced specialists demonstrate interesting ideas on decoration and interior design.
The joint construction and furniture exhibition facilitates more effective cooperation among companies seeking partners in these sectors. The diversity of the four-day exhibition allows specialist visitors to receive a range of offers from the construction industry, significantly save time, and make important decisions on purchasing, repairs and furnishings.
Next year, the exhibition will be held on 20-23 October.
