The launch of ‘Caspian Construction Week’ was marked by the opening of the 18th Azerbaijan International Construction Exhibition, BakuBuild 2012; the 4th International Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Water Supply, Sanitation, Environmental Technology, Swimming Pools and Renewable Energies Exhibition, Aqua-Therm Baku 2012; and the 5th Anniversary Caspian International Protection, Security and Rescue Exhibition, CIPS 2012.
The large-scale exhibition is occupying all the halls and the outside demonstration area of Baku Expo Centre for the first time. Representatives from one of the most dynamic sectors of the economy have taken the opportunity provided by the largest regional construction forum to demonstrate their capabilities and the latest developments in their technologies, goods and services. The official opening ceremony was attended by Jahangir Gojayev, Head of the International Relations and Information Department of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan; Mahammedali Efendiyev, Secretary General of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers’) Organizations of Azerbaijan; Mr Edward Strachan, Regional Director of ITE Group plc.; representatives of the diplomatic corps; the media; and exhibitors.
In his speech, Jahangir Gojayev noted that, “Throughout the years of its independence, the Azerbaijan construction sector has remained one of the most stable and dynamic sectors of the economy. BakuBuild is a good reflection of this. This exhibition plays an important role not only in bringing the latest technology into the country, but also in creating an attractive business image for Azerbaijan. From year to year the number of participants at BakuBuild increases, and these people then become ambassadors and promoters of positive information about Azerbaijan.”
“The construction sector is growing at a fast pace and has achieved great success. We are pleased that the private sector occupies an important place in this industry. I would like to highlight these invaluable special exhibitions through which local business people can not only learn about the latest developments and innovations in the construction industry, but also establish new relationships and convey information to consumers about their activities, products and services. Many different displays reflecting the growth and development of various sectors of the Azerbaijani economy have taken place in this exhibition centre in recent years. I am pleased to note that the current construction exhibition is the largest of them”, said the Secretary General of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs Organizations. It was with great pride that Mr Edward Strachan, Regional Director of ITE Group plc, noted that “BakuBuild has become the most ambitious of all exhibitions held to date in Azerbaijan and has occupied the entire indoor space and the outside area of Baku Expo Centre. Four hundred and fifty-five companies from 31 countries are involved in BakuBuild 2012. Sixty per cent of the exhibitors are regular participant, while 35% are domestic participants, and another 30% are making their debut here. It should be emphasized that the participation of major national groups in the exhibition demonstrates that Azerbaijan is an attractive market.” Finally Mr Strachan congratulated everybody on the occasion of the upcoming Azerbaijan Independence Day and wished everybody a successful time at the exhibitions.
The VIP tour then took place, during which the VIPs visited the stands of a number of large international companies and national groups, familiarized themselves with the latest products, and discussed the prospects for cooperation with Azerbaijan.
BakuBuild, which retains its role as the largest specialist event in the region, once again increased the expositional area it covers and the number of exhibitors participating. This year, 455 companies from 31 countries are involved, 60% of whom are regular exhibitors who have previously used the exhibition as a platform to promote their products. Countries such as Finland, Germany, Italy, Iran, Spain, Portugal and Greece are represented by national groups. Turkish producers, who still retain an interest in the Azerbaijani market, have taken over a large area of the exhibition. The area occupied by Chinese companies has also increased.
Leading global and domestic producers of goods and services present their wares on stands which include every sort of building material, lifts, escalators, construction tools and equipment, safety equipment, finishing and facing materials, sanitary ware, flooring, roofing, cladding, road-building machinery, landscape design, and much more. This year, ‘Real Estate’ forms a new section at the exhibition and here one can find proposals for the purchasing of property in the resort regions of Turkey. On the demonstration platform in front of the exhibition centre construction equipment from leading global companies is presented. Here visitors can visually assess the advantages of modern construction equipment, and professionals can take products for a test-drive.
In terms of size, second place is occupied by Aqua-Therm Baku, which is accommodated in the second and fourth halls of Baku Expo Centre. This year, the exhibition involves 78 companies from Azerbaijan, Iran, Italy, Russia, Turkey and China, and local representatives of manufacturers from Belgium, Finland, Sweden, Japan and other countries. One-third of the expositional area has been taken up by local companies, including regular exhibitors such as Metak, Sauna Inshaat, Yusiko, NJT, Euroclima and Nenzi-M. In addition to traditional heating systems, insulation, saunas, fans and air-conditioning units; exclusive fireplaces, ‘air curtains’ and equipment for saltwater pools are being presented at the exhibition for the first time. In the "Ventilation and Air-Conditioning" section global brands such as Carrier (USA), Daikin (Japan), Systemair (Sweden), Hitachi (Japan), Sanyo (Japan) and Thermona (Czech Republic) have their displays. The 5th Anniversary Caspian International Protection, Security and Rescue Exhibition, CIPS 2012, which is the only international trade fair for security in the region, will present products and services from the leading companies of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Italy, Russia and Turkey. The exhibition includes the newest and latest developments in the fields of CCTV, access control, emergency rescue equipment, turnstiles, parking systems, speed dome cameras and optics for cameras, and other ICT technologies which are widely used in public safety, fire and security alarm systems, smoke detectors and specialist fire-fighting equipment.
